Plan for Summer Now is the time to begin looking for summer activities for your students. Students engaged in summer activities develop better vocabulary, have fewer behavior problems and do better in school. There is a variety of activities to do during the summer. Junction City High School offers a variety of athletic camps; Junction City Library has a reading program; Junction City Recreational Department offers various learning and camps throughout the summer; and Fort Riley Youth Sport program has sports teams available for elementary age children during the summer. Keep your children busy and have a routine even in the summer. It will make a more positive summer experience. Summer Fun The Ware teachers and staff hope you have a WONDERFUL summer. Many of our teachers will be engaged in summer school, some are planning trips, and others are taking a break. We hope all our Ware Bears play safe this summer. Please make sure you swim with a buddy, wear your helmets, and look both ways. We want all our Ware Bears back next fall, healthy and ready to learn. Have a WARE BEAR summer! August '09 We are looking forward to a GREAT 2009 - 2010 school year. Enrollment for Ware Bears will begin on August 5th (8am-6pm) and August 6th (8am-4pm). Please visit the district enrollment information site to get information on what you need to bring if you are new to our community. If you have a kindergartener, bring him/her to enrollment. They have an opportunity to show their kindergarten teacher some of their skills. A reminder physicals are required for enrollment. If you are getting your physical at IACH (Military Hospital on Fort Riley), call now. They tend to get busy mid to late summer with physicals and it can be difficult to get an appointment. Ware Bear Teachers will be doing home visits August 11th and 12, 3:30-5:30. This is a quick stop by to meet their students and drop off a note or a pencil. We do NOT have a schedule, but if we miss you the first night we try to catch you the second night. If we miss you completely, we leave the note at the door. Check out the supplies your child needs for school. We will have a Back to School night on August 13th at 5:00 for parents and students. We ENCOURAGE students to bring their supplies that night so that the first day can be spent getting to know each other instead of supply sorting.
