Hi! My Name is Amy Leturgez and I teach 2nd Grade here at Ware Elementary. I have been teaching for several years now and this will be my fourth year as a Ware Bear. I am connected to the military like many of you. My husband is in the Army and has been on several deployments to Iraq. Our three girls who are in middle and high school still have some of the same anxieties as second graders do when parents are away. I definitely understand what families go through before, during and after deployments. I have a plan to be successful with students. I truly believe to make this plan work it needs help from teachers, parents, and students. When communication is involved everyone wins! Please make sure to tell me if your child is sick or if a parent is getting ready to deploy, coming home for R+R or returning from deployment. This information affects your children not only at home but at school too. If I know about these situations I can help your child get through it here at school. I believe in creating a safe and comfortable environment in the classroom that will encourage children to share their ideas with myself and others in the classroom in a respectful manner. In our classroom, students work together as partners or in small groups. They learn so much that they teach others as well as themselves. As this new school year approaches you can prepare your students to come to my class by always being prepared to do their personal best, ask questions when they don’t understand something, and be willing to work. This philosophy continues all year long.
